Mr. Jonathan Penkin

Jonathan is a Managing Director in the Financing Group of Goldman Sachs (Asia) L.L.C. He is based in Hong Kong and specialises in equity capital markets transactions in Asia ex Japan. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Jonathan served as a Managing Director of NM Rothschild Investment Banking in London.

In his 14 year long career (1992-2006) at the Bank Jonathan also served as a Managing Director, Head of UK Equity Capital Markets, and a member of the Global Management Committee of ABN AMRO Rothschild, a Joint Venture between Rothschild and ABN AMRO Bank N.V. in the Equity Capital Markets. He was also a Director of NM Rothschild & Sons (South Africa) (pty) Limited. Whilst at Rothschild Jonathan was primarily involved in UK and European privatizations, corporate Initial Public Offerings and Capital Raisings, and also specialized in the telecommunications, media and technology sector.

Before joining Rothschild, Jonathan completed an MA (Law) at University College, Oxford. Prior to that, he obtained an MA (cum laude) from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem in political science, specializing in African politics and development. Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Jonathan obtained his first degree from the University of Cape Town in political science, also specializing in African politics.

Jonathan was active in Habonim-Dror South Africa and served as Mazkir Hutz of the Youth Movement and Chairman of the South African Zionist Youth Council in 1987, prior to his departure for Israel.
