Douglas Goldman, MD, is chairman and founder of Certain Software, a leader in event management applications, and served as its president and CEO from1994 to 2000. Prior to establishing Certain Software in 1994, Doug became a board-certified emergency physician and worked at Mount Zion Hospital and Medical Center and Marshal Hale Memorial Hospital in San Francisco. He also served as the Medical Director of the Emergency Medical Services Agency for the city and county of San Francisco. Because of his expertise in emergency medicine, EMS, and pre-hospital care, Doug recently served on the San Francisco Fire Commission.
A committed and active volunteer, Doug has served on the boards of dozens of local, national and international organizations. He currently serves as Chairman of the San Francisco Stern Grove Festival Association, the oldest annual free concert series in the United States. Other current board positions include the San Francisco Emergency Physicians' Association, the Goldman School of Public Policy at the University of California at Berkeley, the Walter and Elise Haas Fund, the Goldman Environmental Foundation and the Goldman Prize Jury. Doug's first experience in software design was as founder and original designer of the Israel-based Douglas E. Goldman Jewish Genealogy Center, a computerized research center for Jewish genealogy at Beit Hatefutsot (the Museum of the Diaspora).
He received a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of California at Berkeley and earned his MD from the Sackler School of Medicine at Tel Aviv University in Israel.
