Overview

The Harold Hartog School of Government and Policy is situated in the Gershon H. Gordon Faculty of Social Sciences at Tel Aviv University. The Hartog School is dedicated to improving governance in Israel. We aim to prepare students for leadership in public service; serve as a leading public policy think tank; bridge between the academic and policy communities; encourage and conduct multidisciplinary research into salient issues in the governmental-studies arena.

Currently, the School's main research projects are:

  • Israel and International Development- The project, in cooperation with the Pears Foundation, focuses on developing policy solutions for improving the quality and quantity of Israel's contribution to the developing world.
  • Good Government - This project concentrates on researching and promoting transparent responsible Government and leadership, in response to growing domestic concern over the issue of corruption.
  • Environmental Policy- This project seeks to develop a strategic environmental plan for the state of Israel.

Each of these three nuclei combines vast theoretical issues with clear hands-on implication to policy makers and governmental activity. We believe that this combination of theory and practice is unique to the Harold Hartog School of Government and Policy and makes us an important actor in the Israeli public arena.
